Patric Standford was commissioned to co-write a cello concerto based on Rod McKuen's single lines of melody and instructions, to deliver 'Concerto for Cello and Orchestra'. Standford conducted the National Philharmonic Orchestra (an orchestra formed soley for recording purposes) with Keith Harvey as soloist in a recording studio in London.
